About Tara Mosiewicz and Moss World Music

Tara Mosiewicz is a Sarasota-based music educator, composer, and ethnomusicologist with a passion for global musical traditions and arts education. She is the founder of Moss World Music, where she composes and publishes original works that reflect her diverse musical influences and commitment to cultural exploration through the arts.

A respected leader in her field, Tara most recently served as the Director of Performing Arts—Music, Theatre, and Dance—for Manatee County Public Schools, where she oversaw district-wide arts programming that fosters creativity, self-expression, and cultural literacy among students. She holds a Doctorate’s degree in music education and blends academic insight with real-world experience to inspire the next generation of performers and creators and instill in them the love for world music.

Tara has made significant contributions to music education through her original compositions, including the well-received elementary school musical, The Ultimate Christmas Vacation. Described as funny, entertaining, and heartfelt, the production offers flexible performance options and is available on this website and through J.W. Pepper and Teachers Pay Teachers, complete with sheet music and audio performance tracks. She also offers choral music for young performers and world music ensemble pieces that use pieces that she has brought from her vast travels and adapted for classroom voices and instruments.

Beyond education and musical theater, Tara has also collaborated on film projects, including work with Emmy Award-winning director Ben Moses on the acclaimed documentary I Am a Ukrainian: Witness to a Revolution.

Through Moss World Music and her ongoing dedication to teaching and composing, Tara Mosiewicz continues to enrich the Florida arts communities and across the US with her creativity, leadership, and global musical vision
